Interconnected Feedback Objects
Video and image excerpts from the development of a performance installation
Conrad Prebys Music Center, Experimental Theater
March 2019

Acoustic feedback is created within, and filtered through, different suspended metal objects, creating five localized systems. Transducers connect the different systems, sending feedback from one location into another, affecting the feedback within that locality. Contact microphones also interconnect the separate systems, listening to the feedback within one location and routing it to another. At its best a self-oscillating and self-instigating ecosystem, change in one sound environment/spatial location is registered by change in another, sometimes unpredictably. This installation is conceptually indebted and in response to David Tudor’s Rainforest IV.
